Job Shadow Essay
I got to admit I was a little nervous when I had to interview someone so I can do my job shadow. I job shadowed a babysitter. I interviewed Sylvia Preciado on March 4, 2016. She allowed me to go to her home and see her work. I chose to job shadow a babysitter because I like kids and I believe caring for them allows me to be more successful later on in the medical field. First, when I arrived I was so nervous. I introduced myself to Mrs. Preciado and we began to talk about ourselves and we were getting to know a little about yourself. After that, I interviewed her I asked her many questions and she was nice enough to answer my questions. She had a little trouble understanding what I was asking her, but she still answered the questions properly. After, I was done interviewing her I asked if I can stay a little longer to see how she does her work. I even helped her take care of some kids and I made food for them. I got to shower and sleep some of them. I played cars, babies, barbies, and even cooking. I enjoyed spending time with them, even if some were very rude with me. Something I learned was that I need to have lots of patients with the kids. Also, give them my full attention because if I take my eyes off for a moment lots of things can go wrong. Like, they’ll start to fight and they might have the chance to go outside and everything can go wrong without supervision. I liked how most would listen to me and how I got to spend time with them and play around. But, what I didn’t like was how some kids would be rude with me and other kids. They were very selfish, they would even start to fight for no reason. Finally, I am interested in this job because I believe it has to do something related with the medical field. Like, caring for other, always being prepared, always be alert, have patients, and be quick. |
