Autobiographical Narritive
"What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.” says Pericles. My life hasn’t been so easy for me these years I’ve had a few obstacles come my way but I have faced them. So, my name is Haley Lemus I am 17 years young, gonna be 18 year young in December. I was born and raised most of my life in a small town name Lindsay. In my whole entire life I’ve had some bad situations. And I have learned lessons from these situations.
To begin with, I live with both of my parents and my two younger brothers, little sister, and my adopted sister/ cousin. I live in Lindsay California and the school I attend to is Lindsay High School. Since I am the oldest out of my brothers and sisters I have to be a great role model for them. Because pretty sure my two younger sisters look up to me and look at every bad thing I do. I could be really grumpy have a bad attitude and do bad things, but this is because I am really stressed out at school and at home, and also because I just don’t have a choice. My brothers and sisters inspire me to be a better person. Reason why I do good choices is because my mom give me advice about life and she tells me to go straight and follow my own path and not get out of it to do bad choices. Another, person that gives me advice is my dad. He doesn’t always give me advice but when he does I listen and understand what he is trying to tell me.
In my lifes of living I’ve had some challenging obstacles come my way, but I had to face them. One of my worst obstacle I had to face was my dad getting arrested. My mother and I didn’t know what to do we were confused we didn’t know what else to do, but move on with our lives. My mother would work twice as hard because she had to pay bills and bring food to our house. Since I was the oldest one I helped my mom with the chores around the house and taking care of my younger siblings. I honestly didn’t know this would affect me it was hard and I would have trouble in school because I was stressed out. Another, challenge I faced was when my dad got arrested for the second time. I would miss school a lot just to help my mom work. While I was facing this challenge I had to face another one the same time which was my grandpa’s death. My mom lost her mind for a while she didn’t want to do anything at all. But, I talked her out of it and she got back to herself. Another, challenge I had to face was my sister’s birth, this is because my mother had a C section and my sister had breathing problems so when my mom was out of the hospital I had to stay with her at home and help her out. Because she was unable to move and she had anxiety at that time. This affected me because I didn’t attend school for two weeks and it caused me to fall behind. Lessons I learned from all this is that life isn‘t always going to be easy. Also, if you want to graduate then attend school and don’t fail. A lesson I learned was that you gotta be strong for others and not only you. You gotta show that life that life isn’t easy and it’s not always gonna be great. Also, that if you see someone feeling down to help them out in what their problem is you gotta talk them out of it.
In addition, from the beginning as long as I can remember my life always depended on having an education and career. My mom only went to the 6th grade in school and my dad just didn’t even go to school at all. My mom had the money to finish school and get a career but in her they had a family of fourteen and my dad they just didn’t have the money to get an education. Both my parents told me it’s not easy to get a job without an education. Reasons they tell me to stay in school and not get off side track, is for my future and for my own good. Also, they would tell me they don’t want me to suffer as they did. Now that I’m a little older they tell me to study, work hard, and to think before I decide to do something and not be stupid. They tell me this so whatever actions I do now won’t affect me in the future. Listening to my parents and doing what’s good could bring a good impact in my life. Like, I’ll have a good education and I’ll have my dream job, pediatrician. Another, thing is that people won’t think bad of me.
Generally speaking, to be honest my life wasn’t easy, but I always seem to have a smile on my face. Obstacles are always coming my way but I know I’m strong enough to face them. I am glad I have my parents who always have my back and give me advice. Also, I’m glad I get to be a role model to my brothers and sisters because they look up to me. In short, a smile always hides the deepest secrets and pain.
